Before I knew Christ, I was completely dead in my sins, I did not seek after the one true God, I did not understand the Truth of God's Word. Proof of this is shown in the scriptures below. Why do I need a Savior?
And you were dead in the trespasses and sins
for all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God,
even when we were dead in our trespasses...
(from Ephesians 2:5, continued below)
no one understands;
no one seeks for God.
What is sin?
1 John 3:4 Everyone who makes a practice of sinning also practices lawlessness; sin is lawlessness.
What is the law?
Ten Commandments, Exodus 20:1-17
What are the consequences of sin?
Romans 6:23 For the wages of sin is death, but the free gift of God is eternal life in Christ Jesus our Lord.
What did Christ do to procure my Salvation?
Romans 5:8 but God shows his love for us in that while we were still sinners, Christ died for us.
Ephesians 2:5 even when we were dead in our trespasses, made us alive together with Christ—by grace you have been saved—
Romans 8:1 There is therefore now no condemnation for those who are in Christ Jesus.
If you are enabled by God to believe, by Grace through Faith - the bible calls you God's elect. Not because of any works that we do, but because of His Grace and Mercy.
Romans 8:28 And we know that for those who love God all things work together for good, for those who are called according to his purpose. 29 For those whom he foreknew he also predestined to be conformed to the image of his Son, in order that he might be the firstborn among many brothers. 30 And those whom he predestined he also called, and those whom he called he also justified, and those whom he justified he also glorified.
Ephesians 1:4 even as he chose us in him before the foundation of the world, that we should be holy and blameless before him. In love 5 he predestined us for adoption as sons through Jesus Christ, according to the purpose of his will, 6 to the praise of his glorious grace, with which he has blessed us in the Beloved. 7 In him we have redemption through his blood, the forgiveness of our trespasses, according to the riches of his grace,
1 Thessalonians 5:9 For God has not destined us for wrath, but to obtain salvation through our Lord Jesus Christ,
Mark 10:26 And they were exceedingly astonished, and said to him, “Then who can be saved?” 27 Jesus looked at them and said, “With man it is impossible, but not with God. For all things are possible with God.”
John 17:9 I am praying for them. I am not praying for the world but for those whom you have given me, for they are yours.
2 Thessalonians 2:13 But we ought always to give thanks to God for you, brothers beloved by the Lord, because God chose you as the firstfruits to be saved, through sanctification by the Spirit and belief in the truth.
John 5:21 For as the Father raises the dead and gives them life, so also the Son gives life to whom he will.
John 10:15 just as the Father knows me and I know the Father; and I lay down my life for the sheep.
It is not a prayer that saves. Only Jesus Christ can save. If you want to know Jesus, then ask Him to show you the truth of his Word (the bible). Get involved in a good "reformed" church, get involved in a bible study program. Time will show that the desires of your heart will be for or against Christ.

Being dead in my sins, how did I come to know Jesus Christ as my Savior? God drew me to Himself, God made this dead sinner alive, God put His Holy Spirit in me, God gives me the Faith I need to believe.
Ezekiel 36:26 And I will give you a new heart, and a new spirit I will put within you. And I will remove the heart of stone from your flesh and give you a heart of flesh. 27 And I will put my Spirit within you, and cause you to walk in my statutes and be careful to obey my rules.
John 3:3 Jesus answered him, “Truly, truly, I say to you, unless one is born again he cannot see the kingdom of God.” 4 Nicodemus said to him, “How can a man be born when he is old? Can he enter a second time into his mother's womb and be born?” 5 Jesus answered, “Truly, truly, I say to you, unless one is born of water and the Spirit, he cannot enter the kingdom of God. 6 That which is born of the flesh is flesh, and that which is born of the Spirit is spirit. 7 Do not marvel that I said to you, ‘You must be born again.’ 8 The wind blows where it wishes, and you hear its sound, but you do not know where it comes from or where it goes. So it is with everyone who is born of the Spirit.”
1 Peter 1:3 Blessed be the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ! According to his great mercy, he has caused us to be born again to a living hope through the resurrection of Jesus Christ from the dead,
John 1:12 But to all who did receive him, who believed in his name, he gave the right to become children of God, 13 who were born, not of blood nor of the will of the flesh nor of the will of man, but of God.
John 6:37 All that the Father gives me will come to me, and whoever comes to me I will never cast out. 38 For I have come down from heaven, not to do my own will but the will of him who sent me. 39 And this is the will of him who sent me, that I should lose nothing of all that he has given me, but raise it up on the last day. 40 For this is the will of my Father, that everyone who looks on the Son and believes in him should have eternal life, and I will raise him up on the last day.”
Ephesians 2:8 For by grace you have been saved through faith. And this is not your own doing; it is the gift of God, 9 not a result of works, so that no one may boast.
Pastor Jim McClarty: Faith is a Gift
Hebrews 12:2 looking to Jesus, the founder and perfecter of our faith, who for the joy that was set before him endured the cross, despising the shame, and is seated at the right hand of the throne of God.
God and His Grace are irresistible to His elect. Notice how the scripture does not say "might" be saved, but it actually says that God "will" save them/raise them up.
John 6:44 No one can come to me unless the Father who sent me draws him. And I will raise him up on the last day.
God promises that His elect are to have eternal life. We can never lose our salvation because our salvation depends not on ourselves but on God who is able to keep us. He has already procured salvation for His elect by becoming the perfect sin offering, the Lamb of God.
My sheep hear my voice, and I know them, and they follow me. I give them eternal life, and they will never perish, and no one will snatch them out of my hand. My Father, who has given them to me, is greater than all, and no one is able to snatch them out of the Father's hand. I and the Father are one.” (John 10:27-30 ESV)
For I am sure that neither death nor life, nor angels nor rulers, nor things present nor things to come, nor powers, nor height nor depth, nor anything else in all creation, will be able to separate us from the love of God in Christ Jesus our Lord. (Romans 8:38-39 ESV)
We are not saved by good works, but God enables his elect to do good works after they are saved because it is God who works in them.
Ephesians 2:10 For we are His workmanship, created in Christ Jesus for good works, which God prepared beforehand that we should walk in them.
Philippians 2:13 for it is God who works in you, both to will and to work for his good pleasure.
God grants His elect repentance, to have a changed mind and the desire to turn from their sin.
Acts 11:18 When they heard these things they fell silent. And they glorified God, saying, “Then to the Gentiles also God has granted repentance that leads to life.”
